PORTFOLIO-LEVEL IMPACT STRATEGY FOR USAID’S EXPLORATORY PROGRAMS AND INNOVATION COMPETITIONS

Need: Take a more strategic approach to decision making

Response:  Embed impact into USAID’s open innovation programming

Indicative activities:

  • Facilitated multiple co-creation workshops to update EPIC’s impact strategy in a participatory fashion that ensures uptake.
  • Designed / oversaw meta-evaluation of Grand Challenges for Development (GCD).
  • Developed overarching results framework and portfolio-level indicators for GCDs through co-creation sessions with GCD stakeholders including GCD participants.
  • Developed a plan that provides a framework for performance monitoring and adaptive management for use across USAID GCDs that can be used as a guiding document to develop each specific GCD plan to meet the needs of future GCD programs.
  • Developed guidance on conducting cost analyses for GCDs.
