Cornelia Tremann, based in Munich, Germany, brings nearly 15 years of international experience working with diverse teams in research and project implementation settings in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and China. Cornelia currently supports Moonshot’s work as monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) partner on the USAID/CATALYZE program and the DFAT Blended Finance Learning Program, providing strategic and practical guidance to project teams on integrating MEL processes into project management and leveraging learning to improve implementation and results. She is highly skilled at analyzing data and synthesizing complex ideas into high-quality, user-friendly written products to share information, identify lessons learned, and make actionable recommendations. Her technical expertise spans private sector development, political economy, governance, civil society engagement, CVE, youth, and gender.
In addition to her engagement with Moonshot, Cornelia freelances as a writer for the Lowy Institute Interpreter and the World Politics Review, and as a consultant for public sector organizations, NGOs, and private sector consultancies, and the China Africa Advisory. She has worked as a Learning and Knowledge Management Specialist in the USAID/Sahel Regional Office in Dakar, Senegal; as an Economic Specialist at the U.S. Embassy Beijing; and as a South-South Cooperation Policy Specialist at UNDP China. Cornelia holds a PhD combining Politics of Development with China-Africa relations from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), a Master in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Queensland, Australia (UQ). She is fluent in English, French, and German, and understands beginner Chinese.
